IAS-PCS: What is the difference between IAS-PCS, who is more powerful? Who gets how much salary?

Candidates who pass the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam become IAS officers. The UPSC exam has to be given in three stages which include prelims, mains, and interview. In the UPSC Civil Services Exam, candidates are asked questions related to different subjects of the country and the world. On passing this exam, one is made an IAS on the basis of rank. The area of ​​work of any IAS is the whole country because IAS comes under an All India Service.

What is PCS and how to become one?
The post of PCS officer is related to the administrative services of the state. To become a PCS officer of any state, one has to appear for the State Public Service Commission examination. The PCS examination is conducted every year in every state. The syllabus of PCS is also quite similar to that of UPSC. This is the reason why students preparing for UPSC also try their luck in the PCS examination.

What is the difference between IAS and PCS?
The first difference is that the post of IAS officer comes under the Central Government. It is an All India Administrative level post. Its selection process is also done by the Central Government's institute UPSC, while the post of PCS officer is related to the State Government. Its selection is also done through the examination for State Administrative Service. The PCS officer is appointed by the Governor, while the IAS officer is appointed by the President. PCS officers can work only in their state, whereas IAS can serve on contract in any state for some time. After completing their training, IAS officers work as Deputy District Magistrate (ADM) in the state administration for some time. Later they are given charge of the district. Many times, on the approval of the state governments, PCS officers are promoted to the post of IAS.

IAS officers get the pay scale of the central government. After the seventh pay scale, the salary of an IAS officer ranges from Rs 56100 to Rs 2.5 lakh per month. On the other hand, PCS officers get the pay scale of the state government. The salary of PCS officers is different in different states. If we talk about Uttar Pradesh, the salary of a PCS officer here ranges from Rs 56,000 to Rs 1,32,000. The highest pay level of any PCS officer is 15, under which his salary ranges between Rs 1,82,200 to Rs 2,24,100.
