What is RAW

These missions can also be outside the country, which is full of responsibility and risk. At the same time, IB (Intelligence Bureau) is the oldest intelligence agency of the country, which works on security-related information inside the country.

How is recruitment done in RAW and IB?
There is no direct recruitment in RAW. Most of the selection in this is done through UPSC or SSC, especially from the Indian Police Service (IPS), the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), or the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Recruitment in RAW is also done through promotion from IB. Apart from this, officers of the Defense Services or Central Armed Forces can also be appointed.
How much salary is received in RAW
The salary and facilities given to a RAW agent are quite different and special from any common government job. Although no official information is available regarding their salary, according to estimates, the monthly salary of a RAW agent can be from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.3 lakh. Apart from this, they are also paid extra for two months every year.
While agents posted abroad get foreign allowance and special dearness allowance, which is decided according to their deployment. The most important thing is that RAW officers are also given a secret allowance, which is sometimes more than their salary and dearness allowance. These are decided keeping in mind the sensitivity of their role and security risks.
2. How is recruitment done in IB
Recruitment in IB is direct, and the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) issues notifications from time to time. The main posts in this are Intelligence Bureau ACIO (Assistant Central Intelligence Officer), Security Assistant, and JIO (Junior Intelligence Officer).
Direct recruitment for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) in IB is done from time to time, in which candidates with a graduation and aged 18-27 years can apply. The selection process includes Tier-1, Tier-2, and an interview. Apart from this, the SSC CGL exam also leads to appointment to the post of ASO (Assistant Section Officer) in IB. The age limit for this post is 18 to 30 years, and the selection process also includes Tier-1, Tier-2, and interview.
