In this article, we will guide you on the steps to take to become a pilot after the 10th grade...
Choosing PCM in Classes 11 and 12 is Essential
Although a student cannot become a pilot immediately after the 10th grade, it is crucial to steer one's preparation in the right direction from that stage. The first step toward becoming a pilot is selecting the right subjects in Classes 11 and 12. Students aspiring to be pilots should opt for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in these grades. Additionally, securing at least 50% marks in the Class 12 board examinations is mandatory to meet the eligibility criteria for further training and examinations.
The Journey to Becoming a Pilot Begins with a License
After passing Class 12, students must enroll in a flying school recognized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). From there, the journey to becoming a pilot progresses through various stages of licensing.
Upon enrolling in a flying academy, the first step is to obtain a Student Pilot License. This requires passing a theory examination. Candidates must be at least 16 years old to apply for this license.
Private Pilot License (PPL)
A Private Pilot License (PPL) is awarded after completing approximately 40 to 50 hours of flying training and passing a medical examination.
Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
A CPL is mandatory to work as a commercial pilot for an airline. Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Additionally, passing the DGCA written examination and completing 200 hours of flying training are required.
Medical Fitness is Also Essential
To become a pilot, one needs to be physically and mentally fit, in addition to completing the necessary education and training. This involves undergoing Class 1 and Class 2 medical tests. A candidate's eyesight must meet DGCA standards, and they must be free from any serious health issues.
Pilot's Salary?
It is worth noting that a pilot's salary is excellent right from the start. After completing training, the starting monthly salary as a Junior First Officer in an airline can range from approximately ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh. As experience grows and one advances to the rank of Captain, this salary can rise to ₹5 lakh–₹8 lakh per month or even higher. If you possess discipline, a strong work ethic, and a passion to reach for the skies, take the first step toward realizing your dream today.
