At the University of Rajasthan, 49% of the total seats are reserved for special categories. These seats are allocated to SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS, and differently-abled students in varying percentages.

The reservation policy has always been crucial for students seeking admission to the University of Rajasthan. According to government rules, SC, ST, OBC, MBC, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and differently-abled candidates are given separate seats and concessions in marks.

SC, ST, OBC, MBC, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and physically challenged students will receive separate seats and benefits at the university. In all faculties, including Arts, Fine Arts, Law, Social Sciences, Science, and Commerce, 49 per cent of the total seats are reserved for students from special categories. This includes 16 per cent for SC students, 12 per cent for ST students, and 21 per cent for OBC students (excluding the creamy layer).

In addition, 5 per cent of the seats are reserved for physically challenged students. This category includes students who are permanently deaf, mute, blind, or suffer from the loss of a limb. Similarly, 10 percent of the seats are reserved for children of Kashmiri migrants and 5 percent for More Backward Classes (MBC).

10 percent of the seats are also reserved for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), although no relaxation in eligibility criteria is provided for these students.

15 percent supernumerary seats are reserved for international students and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs). Of these, one-third, or approximately 5 percent, are specifically for NRI children, who can gain admission by paying five times the fees charged to general students.

SC, ST, and OBC students will be selected based on their merit list within their respective categories. If a student scores higher marks than the general category students, they will not be counted under the reservation quota and will be included in the general merit list. The remaining students will be allotted seats based on merit within their respective categories to fulfill the reservation percentage. The board has also clarified that, if necessary, seats may be offered even up to the passing percentage to complete the reservation quota.
