The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) exam is going to be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). Before releasing the Gate 2025 registration notification, the institute has released the exam pattern and syllabus for the exam. This time IIT Roorkee has also launched a new official website for GATE, whose address is gate2025.iitr.ac.in. Candidates will be given all the information related to the exam through this.

In which mode will the exam be conducted?

For information, let us tell you that the GATE exam will be conducted in CBT mode i.e. Computer Based Test Mode. 3 hours will be given for the exam. There will be a total of 30 test papers in this exam, which includes full paper and section-wise papers. The sections will be general aptitude (GA) and the candidate's chosen subjects. At the same time, the candidate's chosen subjects will include MCQ, multiple choice questions (MSQ), and numerical type (NAT) questions.

How many marks will the exam be?

According to IIT Roorkee, a total of 65 questions will be asked in GATE 2025. The candidate will be allowed to give one or a maximum of two test papers. Test papers will be available in English language. At the same time, this exam is a of total 100 marks. General Aptitude (GA) is common for all papers and it will include 15 marks. 13 marks will be asked for engineering math and 72 marks for subject questions.

How will the marking be?

Negative marking will be applicable for giving wrong answers in this exam. Know here that 2 types of MCQs will be asked. In the first MCQ, 1 mark will be given for 1 question and 1/3 marks will be deducted for 1 wrong answer. Whereas, in the second MCQ, 2 marks will be given for a correct question, while 2/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no minus marking applicable for wrong answers in MSQ or NAT questions. Also, there is no minus marking applicable in MSQ questions.
