In fact, these topics have not been removed; instead, they have been integrated with other mathematics chapters and presented in a more effective manner.
Example 1: Several modern and practical applications of 'Lines and Angles' are now included within Chapter 9 ('Propositions and Converses') and Chapter 12 ('Quadrilaterals') of the Class 9 textbook. Example 2: Instead of teaching Euclidean geometry theory as a separate, difficult, and tedious chapter to be memorized by rote, it has been seamlessly integrated into other chapters. This will enable students to understand the practical application of formulas rather than just memorizing them.

A major highlight of the new syllabus is the inclusion of a new chapter on ‘Algorithms.’ Today’s world runs on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data. NCERT believes that relying solely on outdated, conventional teaching methods will not suffice. Strengthening computational thinking is essential to tackle future technical challenges. Topics such as algorithms, data structures, and running-time efficiency will serve as a foundational base for every student.

The syllabus currently in circulation is merely a ‘draft’—an initial proposal. NCERT has invited suggestions from teachers, students, and educationists across the country.
