GATE 2027 Registration: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced the commencement of the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Eligible candidates interested in participating in GATE 2027 can submit their applications by visiting the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The application process began on September 2, 2026.
The registration window for GATE 2027 will remain open without a late fee until September 27, 2026. Candidates who miss this deadline can still apply by paying a late fee until October 5. The application correction window will be available from October 14 to October 21.
GATE 2027 will be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The city allotment notification is expected on January 4, while the admit card release date has not yet been announced. The GATE 2027 results will be declared on March 19, 2027.
Robotics and Automation Paper Included in GATE 2027
This year, GATE will feature a new paper on Robotics and Automation (RA). With the addition of this new paper, the examination will now cover 30 test papers. IIT Madras has also made changes to the syllabus for certain GATE 2027 papers. These include updates to the Biotechnology paper and modifications to the sectional paper codes for Textile Engineering and Fibre Science, Engineering Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Life Sciences. Candidates may appear for one or two test papers; however, those opting for two papers must select from combinations approved by the exam authorities.
GATE 2027 Eligibility
Candidates currently in the third year or higher of an undergraduate degree program, as well as those who have completed a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities, are eligible to apply for this examination.
Candidates holding a qualifying degree from an institution outside India may also apply, subject to the conditions specified by the authorities. For Indian citizens, registration via DigiLocker is mandatory. IIT Madras advises candidates to ensure their DigiLocker account is verified and updated before commencing the GATE 2027 application process.
