GATE 2027 Registration Begins: Opportunity for Studies at IITs/IISc and Jobs in PSUs

Applications for GATE 2027 have now commenced. IIT Madras has initiated the registration process for the exam, and candidates can apply via the official website.

For candidates aiming to pursue higher studies in engineering and technology or seeking employment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), the application process for GATE 2027 is now open. IIT Madras has started the registration process, and candidates can apply through the official website.

The deadline to apply for GATE 2027 without a late fee is September 27, 2026. Candidates who miss this deadline will have the opportunity to apply until October 5 by paying a late fee. A correction window for making changes to applications will remain open from October 14 to October 21, 2026. GATE 2027 is scheduled to be conducted on various dates in February 2027.

A new paper has been introduced for the GATE exam this time; IIT Madras has added 'Robotics and Automation' as a new paper for GATE 2027. With this addition, the exam will cover a total of 30 test papers.

Additionally, the syllabi for some existing papers have been revised. The syllabus for the Biotechnology paper has been updated, and changes have been made to the sectional paper codes for Textile Engineering and Fibre Science, Engineering Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Life Sciences. Before applying, candidates must review the updated syllabus for their chosen paper and ensure they meet the relevant eligibility criteria.

There is no upper age limit for GATE 2027. Candidates currently in the final year of a recognized undergraduate degree program or those who have already completed their graduation are eligible to apply for the exam. Candidates who have obtained a degree from an institution outside India are also eligible to apply for the exam. For Indian candidates, registration via DigiLocker is mandatory during the application process. IIT Madras has advised candidates to ensure their DigiLocker accounts are verified and updated before initiating the application.

Candidates can appear for one or two test papers in GATE 2027. However, if a candidate chooses two papers, they must select from the valid paper combinations prescribed by the authority. Therefore, candidates opting for two papers must carefully consider the combinations while applying.

To apply for GATE 2027, candidates must first register using a valid email ID and mobile number. Upon registration, they will receive an enrollment ID. Subsequently, they must complete the application by entering their personal and educational details, uploading a photograph, signature, and necessary documents, and paying the application fee on the official website.
