GATE 2027: IIT Madras has made a DigiLocker account mandatory for GATE 2027. The institute has advised candidates to create or update their DigiLocker accounts before the application process begins on August 14, 2026. Registration will take place via DigiLocker, and linking the DigiLocker account is essential to enable the institute to retrieve the information required for the application process.

Applications for the GATE 2027 exam will be submitted through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal. Candidates will need to follow specific steps to fetch their information from DigiLocker during registration.

How to link DigiLocker?
Visit the official GATE 2027 website: gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
A window for retrieving information from DigiLocker will appear on the screen.
Click on "Go To DigiLocker" and log in using your DigiLocker credentials.

Grant permission to share your information. Details such as your profile picture, verified ID card number, email ID, name, date of birth, mobile number, and address will be automatically retrieved.
Proceed with the GATE 2027 registration process, which begins on August 14, 2026.

Documents required when applying for GATE
While applying for the GATE exam, candidates must provide various details, such as their college name and address, choice of GATE test paper, and six preferred cities for the examination.

You will also need the following documents:

A high-quality photograph of the candidate, adhering to the specified guidelines.
A live photograph may also be captured during registration; candidates should use a computer with a webcam or a smartphone with a camera of at least 5 MP.
A high-quality image of the candidate's signature, adhering to the specified guidelines.
A scanned copy of a valid photo identity card (the original ID must be presented at the examination center). Scanned copy of SC/ST category certificate (in PDF format), if applicable.
Scanned copy of UDID (preferred) or PwD certificate (in PDF format), if applicable.

Scanned copy of dyslexia certificate (in PDF format), if applicable.
Relevant annexure (in PDF format), if applicable.

Certificate required for extra time and a scribe, if applicable.
GATE 2027 Schedule: Important Dates
The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2026. Registration will begin on August 14, 2026.
