GATE 2027 Exam Dates: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has released the complete schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. IIT Madras has introduced 'Robotics and Automation' (RA) as a separate paper in response to growing industrial needs and the rising demand for expertise in the fields of automation and intelligent systems. According to the institute, the GATE syllabus has been revised after approximately five years to align the exam format with current academic and industrial requirements.
**Total of 30 papers**
Another major change has been introduced for GATE 2027: the Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) paper has now been included as a sectional paper within Engineering Sciences (XE).
Following these changes, there will be a total of 30 test papers in GATE 2027.
**Option to appear for one or two papers**
Candidates will have the option to appear for either one or two papers based on approved combinations.
All question papers will be available exclusively in English.
**Registration via DigiLocker and face authentication**
To enhance the security of the examination process, the online application procedure has been linked to DigiLocker. Additionally, face authentication will be mandatory to verify the candidates' identities.
IIT Madras has advised candidates to complete the DigiLocker and face authentication processes well in advance to avoid any issues during registration or entry into the examination center.
