Cut-offs and Final Answer Keys to be Released Along with Results

According to the schedule released by the organizing institute, the final answer keys and cut-off marks for all 30 subjects will be made public simultaneously with the declaration of the results. Furthermore, candidates will have the facility to download their GATE 2026 scorecards from the official portal between March 28 and May 31, 2026.

GATE Score to Remain Valid for Three Years
The GATE exam score is considered crucial for higher technical education and for securing various prestigious job opportunities. The GATE 2026 scorecard will remain valid for a period of three years from the date of its issuance. Based on this score, students can secure admission into M.Tech and PhD programs at the country's premier institutions, such as the IITs, NITs, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

Additionally, several major Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)—such as ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, and NTPC—accept the GATE score as a primary criterion for recruiting engineers.

Exam Held in February
The GATE 2026 examination was conducted this year across various shifts during the first and second weeks of February. The exam was held entirely in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, and a large number of candidates participated in it at numerous examination centers established across the country.

Regarding the difficulty level of the exam, experts have noted that papers for certain new technical disciplines—particularly those related to Data Science and Artificial Intelligence—were relatively moderate to difficult in nature, whereas the question papers for other subjects were considered to be of a standard and balanced level.

What to Do After the Results? Following the release of the results, successful candidates will be required to participate in counseling for the subsequent admission process.

For admission to IITs, candidates must complete the necessary procedures through the COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal).
Conversely, for admission to NITs and other institutions, counseling will be conducted via CCMT (Centralised Counselling for M.Tech).

Candidates are advised to keep their login credentials secure and to rely solely on official websites for information related to admissions.
