GATE 2026 Registration: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026) is big news for students preparing. IIT Guwahati has started the registration process of Gate 2026 today i.e. from 28 August 2025. Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official website gate2026.Iitg.ac.in.

Important application dates

The last date for online registration for Gate 2026 examination has been fixed on 28 September 2025. At the same time, candidates can apply till 9 October 2025 with late fees. The examination will be conducted on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026.

Women/SC/ST/PWD Candidates:

• 28 August to 28 September: 1000 rupees per paper
• September 29 to October 9: Rs 1500 per paper
• All other candidates (including foreign nationals):
• 28 August to 28 September: 2000 rupees per paper
• September 29 to October 9: Rs 2500 per paper

How to apply

• Go to the official website gate2026.Iitg.ac.in.
• Click on GATE 2026 Registration Link.
• Login by creating a new account.
• Fill the application form and upload the required document.
• Submit the application fee online.
• After submitting the form, download and print the confirmation page.

Exam pattern

Gate 2026 exam will be computer based. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours, in which questions of a total of 100 marks will be asked.

General Aptitude: 15 points

Selected topic: 85 marks

The questions will be of MCQ, MSQ and NAT type. There will be negative marking on wrong answers in MCQ, but there will be no negative marking in MSQ and NAT questions.
