Application Fee with Late Fee (Per Paper)
Candidates applying with a late fee will have to pay an amount higher than the normal fee. This fee is determined by category:
Category: General Application Fee Late Fee
Female/SC/ST/PwD Candidates: ₹1,000 / ₹1,500
All Other Candidates: ₹2,000 / ₹2,500
Note: If a candidate applies for two papers, they will have to pay double the above amount.
How to fill out the GATE 2026 form?
GATE 2026 applications are accepted only online through the GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) portal. To apply, follow the steps below:
Visit IIT Guwahati's official GATE 2026 website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
Click on the 'Registration' or 'New User' link.
Register by entering your name (as in the valid ID), email ID, mobile number, and password. You will receive an enrollment ID.
Log in to the GOAPS portal using this enrollment ID and password.
Carefully fill in all the required personal, educational (e.g., qualifying degree, year of passing), and communication address information in the application form.
Select the GATE paper and up to three preferred exam centers based on your subject. Note that the first two centers must be in the same zone.
Upload scanned copies of your latest passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format (JPEG/JPG) and size (photo: 20-200 kb, signature: 5-200 kb).
Also, upload a valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar card, passport, etc.) and the required category certificate (SC/ST/PwD).
Pay the application fee, including the applicable late fee, online (UPI/Debit card/Net Banking).
Recheck all details before final submission.
Take a printout of the submitted form for future reference.
Note: October 13, 2025, is the last date to submit the application for GATE 2026. Missing this deadline means waiting for one year.
