Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) has emerged as one of the leading educational institutions in the country. Central University of Tamil Nadu was established in 2009 under the Central University Act, 2009. It is located in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu. Initially the university operated from a temporary campus, but now it is located in its permanent 520 acre sprawling campus in Neelakkudi. The aim of the university is to promote research along with providing quality education.

The admission process in Central University of Tamil Nadu is completely merit based. Admission for Bachelors and Masters courses is done through CUET (Common University Entrance Test). For admission to PhD program, candidates have to go through entrance exam and interview.
