Failed Students Get a Second Chance: Re-admission Process via NIOS Begins
The entire admission process will be conducted online, to be facilitated by school heads through the NIOS system. Classes will be held at centers established within approximately 75 selected government schools across Delhi.
For students enrolled in Delhi’s government schools who were unable to clear Class 9 or 10, the Education Department has opened a new avenue. Through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), they will be granted the opportunity to resume their studies, ensuring they can progress academically without having to drop out midway.
Benefits Reserved for Government School Students
According to the directives issued by the Education Department, this facility is available exclusively to students who have studied in Delhi’s government schools. This includes students who have failed Class 9 or 10 at least twice, or those currently in a ‘compartment’ (supplementary examination) status. However, students who have failed for the first time during the 2025-26 academic session will not fall under the purview of this scheme and must continue their studies at their current schools.
Responsibility on Schools: Directives to Enroll Students
The Department has instructed all government schools to identify eligible students, reach out to them, and encourage them to enroll in this scheme. Furthermore, it will be the schools’ responsibility to arrange for the necessary documents and ensure the timely completion of the application process, thereby ensuring that no eligible student is deprived of this opportunity.
Online Process and Study Center Arrangements
The entire admission process will be conducted online, with school heads facilitating the procedure through the NIOS portal. Classes will be held at designated study centers established within approximately 75 selected government schools across Delhi, ensuring that students receive regular academic guidance.
Examination Fees and Subject Options Finalized
Under this scheme, the examination fee has been fixed at ₹300 per subject, while a fee of ₹150 per subject applies to practical subjects. A fee of ₹230 per subject has been set for the ‘Transfer of Credit’ (TOC) facility. Students will have the option to choose from a range of subjects, including Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Social Science, Science, Painting, and Home Science. Additionally, the subject of Data Entry Operations may also be opted for as an extra subject.
Application Deadline
The deadline for applications for this entire process has been set for July 7. The department aims to bring students who are on the verge of dropping out back into the mainstream and provide them with better opportunities for further education.
