NEET UG 2026 Answer Key: There is welcome news for the 20 lakh candidates awaiting the final results of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key for the re-examination held on June 21. Even before the official results are declared, all candidates have secured 4 marks. A Physics question has been 'dropped' (removed) from the provisional answer key, meaning every candidate who appeared for the exam will receive bonus marks for it.

Furthermore, another Physics question has yielded a double benefit, as two of its options have been deemed correct. Consequently, candidates who select either of these two options will also receive 4 marks. Since the exam was conducted in a single shift, all 20 lakh examinees will benefit equally from this decision. However, experts have begun raising questions regarding the presence of erroneous questions in a high-stakes exam like the NEET UG re-examination.

**Physics Question Yields a 4-Mark 'Jackpot'**
The release of the provisional answer key for the June 21 NEET UG exam has altered the score calculations for candidates. Objections had been raised regarding Physics questions related to electromagnetic waves and Vernier calipers. Following a review, the NTA decided to drop one Physics question. According to the rules, the full 4 bonus marks for a dropped question are awarded to every candidate who appeared for the exam, regardless of whether they attempted the question or left it blank.

**Two Correct Answers for Another Question – A Double Win**
In addition to the bonus marks, the NTA has accepted two different options as correct for another Physics question. According to media reports, candidates who marked either of these two correct options are also guaranteed 4 marks. Meanwhile, candidates claim that there are incorrect answers not only in Physics but also in Chemistry, Biology, and Zoology. Consequently, there is speculation that the number of bonus marks could increase further by the time the final answer key is released.
**Opportunity to challenge until June 28; check the fee details**

If any candidate or coaching expert believes that the answer to a question in the NTA's provisional answer key is incorrect, they can file an online objection. The deadline to challenge the NEET UG answer key is June 28. A fee of ₹200 per question applies. If the objection is upheld and the question is dropped, the NTA will refund the fee. The final answer key and results will be released only after this process.

**Questions raised regarding the re-exam paper**
While candidates are pleased about receiving bonus marks, education experts are questioning the NTA's system. Experts ask how such significant negligence occurred in preparing the question paper, given the nationwide attention surrounding the NEET re-exam and the high-level preparations involved. A debate has now arisen regarding flaws in the NEET UG paper-setting process, questioning why an accurate and error-free question paper cannot be prepared on the very first attempt.
