Students often struggle to secure employment after completing their studies due to a lack of experience regarding actual working conditions and professional work methodologies. However, through these internships, students can gain work experience alongside their academic studies, and they are also provided with a stipend for their efforts. Under the expanded eligibility criteria, final-year students aged 18 to 25 can now apply for paid internships at leading companies via the PMIS portal.

How many young people will benefit?
Under this scheme, the government aims to provide internship opportunities to 10 million (1 crore) young people over the next five years. This initiative was announced during the Union Budget 2024-25 and was formally launched on October 3, 2024. Participants in the scheme will receive a monthly stipend of ₹9,000, in addition to a one-time joining incentive of ₹6,000 provided by the government upon commencing the internship.
