English and Foreign Languages University: If you are interested in learning languages or want to make a career in English and foreign languages, then this news is for you. The Uttar Pradesh government has allotted 2.32 hectares of land in Lucknow for the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus. This land has been given in Chakauli village of Sarojini Nagar tehsil, where a permanent campus will now be built.
Till now, this university has been run from a temporary building on Kanpur Road, but now it is expected that after the construction of a permanent campus, students will get a better environment for study and research.
Many important courses will be conducted in the new campus, including BA (Hons) English, MA English, MA Linguistics, MA English Literature, and PhD. Apart from this, part-time courses will also be available in foreign languages like French, German, Russian, and Spanish.
Land given on lease for Rs 1
This land has been leased to the university for just one rupee per year. Till now, this university has been running from a temporary campus on Kanpur Road, but now, with the construction of its building, better facilities will be available for education and research here.
Education and facilities will improve.
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay was present as the chief guest in the land transfer program organized recently. According to him, the construction of this permanent campus will improve the quality of education and facilities. According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. N. Nagaraju, this step is a historic one for the development of the institute.
University status was received in 2007
EFLU was established in 1958 as the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL), and in 2007, it was given the status of a university. EFLU has three campuses, headquartered in Hyderabad, and the other two campuses are in Lucknow (1979) and Shillong (1973). Apart from education, the second campus of EFLU is also known for its good facilities. There is a big library here. There are separate hostels for boys and girls, a cafeteria, and guest house facilities. Apart from this, there are laboratories, a health center, and a large auditorium.
According to the NIRF 2025 report, after a three-year undergraduate course, students get an average package of Rs 4,80,000. Whereas, after a two-year postgraduate course, this average package is up to Rs 5,16,000.
