In 2026, Sharadiya Navratri will begin on October 11 and continue until October 20. On the tenth day of Navratri, Vijayadashami—also known as Dussehra—will be celebrated, symbolizing the victory of righteousness (Dharma) over unrighteousness (Adharma). According to reports, Dussehra will be observed on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in most parts of India. Meanwhile, in West Bengal, 'Sindoor Khela' and Vijayadashami will be celebrated on October 21. Consequently, students and their parents are wondering how many days schools will remain closed for Dussehra. Let’s take a look at the state-wise holiday list...

Andhra Pradesh – Important Note
Please be aware that the holiday schedule is not uniform across all schools—whether government, private, aided, or those affiliated with various boards. While October 20 is a general public holiday, any additional holidays surrounding this date depend on the local district administration, the state education department, and the individual school's own calendar. Therefore, please confirm with the school before making any plans.
