The admission process under the sports quota for the 2026-27 academic session at Delhi University (DU) has commenced. This is a golden opportunity for students who have excelled in sports such as football, cricket, athletics, hockey, kabaddi, or others; however, merely being a skilled player is not enough. To secure admission through the sports quota, candidates must appear for the CUET UG exam, apply via the CSAS portal, submit sports certificates, and perform successfully in trials conducted by the university. Admission will be granted based on a combined merit list following these stages.

**How to get admission under the sports quota**
For students aspiring to gain admission under the sports quota at Delhi University, appearing for CUET UG 2026 is mandatory. Subsequently, candidates must select the sports quota option while applying through DU's Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. Students will be called for trials based on this application.

**Application allowed for up to three sports**
Candidates can select a maximum of three sports under the sports quota. During the application process, they must upload up to five merit or participation certificates obtained between May 1, 2023, and April 30, 2026. Only certificates from recognized competitions will be accepted.

**Merit based on trials and CUET**
The final merit list for the sports quota will be prepared based on marks from both CUET UG and the sports trials. The CUET score will carry a weightage of 50 percent, while the remaining 50 percent weightage will be assigned to sports performance. Within this sports performance component, 30 percent of the marks will be based on sports certificates, and 20 percent will be based on physical fitness and performance tests.

**Admission available in 28 sports**
This year, the university will offer admissions under the sports quota across a total of 28 sports, including football, cricket, hockey, kabaddi, basketball, volleyball, athletics, weightlifting, swimming, shooting, wrestling, tennis, judo, taekwondo, chess, and gymnastics. **Seat Availability**
For the 2026-27 academic session, DU has allocated a total of 5% supernumerary seats for the ECA and sports categories. Admissions will be offered against approximately 3,550 additional seats across both categories—including around 1,370 sports seats—distributed among nearly 65 colleges.

**Key Points to Remember**
Upload all necessary documents on time and in the correct format.
Absence from trials may result in the loss of the admission opportunity.
Only valid sports certificates will be accepted.
When selecting colleges and courses, fill in your preferences while keeping the available sports quota seats in mind.
