The groundbreaking ceremony for a new hostel-cum-residential block was held on Monday at the Dhaka campus of the Institution of Eminence, Delhi University (DU). Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh was the chief guest, accompanied by NBCC CMD K.P. Mahadevaswamy as the special guest.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that this project will provide students with modern accommodation. He explained that the building will be constructed at a cost of ₹332.83 crore (₹332.83 crore). It will accommodate a total of 1,436 students. The building will be built on a 29,445 square meter plot and will rise 35 meters high. It will have nine floors in addition to the ground floor.

Modern Facilities for Students
Prof. Yogesh Singh informed that under this project, hostels with equal capacity will be constructed for both boys and girls. Each block will accommodate 718 students. The boys' hostel will have 58 rooms for single students, 220 rooms for triplets, and 38 rooms for married or attached accommodation. A master apartment will also be constructed. The girls' hostel will have the same number of rooms.

Several officials present
Several senior DU officials were present on the occasion, including Dean of Colleges Professor Balram Pani, Director of the South Campus Professor Rajni Abbi, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta, Cultural Council Chairperson Anoop Lathar, and Chief Engineer Ashok Saini. Officials from NBCC, Sam India Builtwell Private Limited, and the university were also present. Upon completion of this project, DU students will have access to a safe, comfortable, and modern hostel with modern amenities.
