Delhi University’s admission process is conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. This process unfolds in several stages, the first of which involves registration.

Major news has emerged for the lakhs of students awaiting admission to Delhi University. According to officials, the admission process for undergraduate courses for the 2026-27 academic session is likely to commence in the third week of May. This process will be initiated immediately after the commencement of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2026, ensuring that students receive timely admission and that the academic session faces no delays.

Registration to Begin Alongside CUET

The University’s admission process is facilitated through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. This process consists of multiple stages, with registration serving as the initial step. Officials state that registration on the CSAS portal will be activated around the same time the CUET examination begins. Meanwhile, according to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the CUET-UG 2026 examination is expected to be conducted between May 11 and May 31. Delhi University will proceed with its admission process based on this schedule.

Admission to Depend on CUET Results

Admission through the CSAS portal will primarily be based on CUET scores. Once the examination results are declared, students will be able to apply for their preferred courses based on subject mapping. This process holds significant importance for students, as it determines their merit standing and seat allocation. Furthermore, Delhi University’s Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, has advised students to carefully select the correct subjects for CUET—specifically those they have studied in Class 12. She clarified that for the purpose of subject mapping, a minimum of 50 percent alignment between the two sets of subjects is mandatory. Failure to meet this requirement could lead to complications during the admission process.

Preparations Underway to Expedite the Admission Process

Delhi University’s primary focus this time is to complete the admission process as expeditiously as possible, thereby ensuring that classes can commence on schedule. To address this, plans are being formulated to reduce the duration of each round of seat allocation. Officials believe that shortening each round by a day or two could accelerate the entire process. Meanwhile, teachers have expressed concern regarding delays in university admissions following the implementation of the seat-based admission system over the past few years. They argue that this disrupts the academic calendar; consequently, special emphasis is being placed on completing the process in a timely manner this time around.
