DU Admission 2026: Seats increased for ECA quota admissions, trials mandatory; admissions to be held for 1,370 seats this year..
DU Admission ECA Quota: The registration process under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for undergraduate admissions at Delhi University for the 2026-27 academic session is currently underway. Students wishing to seek admission under the Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) quota must apply separately for this quota in addition to the general application.
The university has increased the number of seats under the ECA quota this year. There are 1,370 seats available across 14 activities, compared to approximately 1,345 seats last year. This increase in seats will allow for more admissions under this quota. Admissions in ECA categories will be based on trials and certificates.
Participation in the trial is mandatory. According to Prof. Deepti Taneja, the ECA admission convener, the number of ECA seats has risen this year. Admissions will be conducted based on the previous year's ECA guidelines, as no changes have been made to the quota's regulations. Students must note that absence from the trial will result in their exclusion from the admission process.
Registration for admission under this quota is ongoing. Students are required to upload their certificates to the CSAS portal during the registration process itself; no student will be called for a trial without uploading valid certificates.
How will the ECA merit list be prepared?
Only certificates obtained between May 1, 2023, and April 30, 2026, will be considered valid. Students may upload up to five certificates, with marks awarded based on the best three. If a student possesses only one certificate, it may also be uploaded.
A separate merit list will be prepared for the ECA category. For general ECA categories, 25% weightage will be given to the CUET score, while 75% weightage will be assigned to certificates and trials. However, for the NSS and NCC categories within the ECA quota, 75% weightage will be based solely on certificates, and 25% will be based on the CUET score. There will be no trials for the NSS and NCC categories; evaluation in these two categories will be based solely on certificates. Students in these categories are also required to upload five certificates.
14 categories included this time
The 14 ECA categories include Creative Writing, Dance, Debate, NSS, NCC, Digital Media, Fine Arts, Vocal Music, Indian and Western Instrumental Music, Theatre, Quiz, Yoga, and Divinity. Students can apply for a maximum of three of these categories, but admission will be granted based on only one category. A separate registration fee of ₹100 must be paid for each category.
