Dreaming of studying abroad? Find out the TOEFL exam fee for 2026 and note the rules before filling out the form..
TOEFL 2026: In India, the standard registration fee for the TOEFL iBT in 2026 is approximately ₹18,000, inclusive of GST. Excluding taxes, the base fee comes to around ₹15,254. A key benefit is that this fee covers not only the exam itself but also allows you to send your scores to four universities at no extra cost. The fee remains the same whether you take the test at a center or opt for the 'TOEFL Home Edition' from home. However, please note that the 'Home Edition' is not accepted for German student visa applications.
Additionally, students looking for a shorter test option can choose the 'TOEFL Essentials Test.' Its fee is approximately ₹11,280, subject to exchange rates. This fee structure applies uniformly across major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Kolkata.
What are the extra charges for rescheduling or late registration?
If you wish to reschedule your chosen exam date, you must pay a rescheduling fee of ₹5,900. This change must be made via your ETS account portal at least four days prior to the scheduled test date. Furthermore, if you miss the regular registration deadline, you can still register by paying a late fee; this involves paying an additional late registration fee of approximately ₹3,900 on top of the standard fee.
Separate charges apply for other services as well—for instance, ₹1,950 per university for additional score reports and up to ₹7,900 for a review of the Speaking or Writing sections.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
If you need to cancel the exam for any reason, the cancellation must be made at least four days before the scheduled test date. If you cancel within this timeframe, you will receive a refund of 50% of the total fee. The remaining 50% is deducted to cover administrative and reservation costs. No refund will be provided if the cancellation is made after the deadline has passed.
