Which subjects in Class 12 lead to which posts?
Different posts in the Indian Army have specific eligibility criteria. For instance, candidates who have passed Class 10 can generally apply for the post of Soldier General Duty (GD). This requires a minimum of 45% aggregate marks and at least 33% marks in each subject.

On the other hand, if you are interested in technical work, the post of Soldier Technical (or Agniveer Technical) could be an option for you. This post requires a background in the Science stream in Class 12. Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) along with English. The requirement is a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and at least 40% marks in each subject.

If you wish to prepare for the post of Clerk or Storekeeper Technical (SKT), you must have passed Class 12 in any stream. This post requires a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and at least 50% marks in each subject. Knowledge of subjects like English and Mathematics/Accounts is particularly useful for this role.

Similarly, the Science stream in Class 12 is mandatory for the post of Soldier Nursing Assistant. What is the path to becoming an officer?
If your goal is to become an officer in the Indian Army rather than a soldier, the recruitment process differs. Candidates must appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination after completing Class 12 and undergo the SSB interview. Those who clear the exam and interview undergo training, after which they are commissioned as Lieutenants.
