Director of IIIT Ranchi meets Chief Minister, discusses courses, research, and placements

IIIT Ranchi: Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Ranchi) Director Prof. Rajiv Srivastava paid a courtesy call on Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Chief Minister's residence on Thursday. During the visit, he discussed the institute's activities, plans, and future direction in detail.

IIIT Ranchi: Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Ranchi) Director Prof. Rajiv Srivastava briefed the Chief Minister on the institute's academic and research activities, key initiatives, and progressive plans. He stated that IIIT Ranchi is an institute of national importance and will further strengthen its role in the future, keeping in mind the needs of the country and society. CM Hemant Soren commended IIIT Ranchi's work and assured all possible support for its overall development.

Establishment of IIIT Ranchi

IIIT Ranchi was established in 2016 under an Act of Parliament. It is a joint venture between the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the Government of Jharkhand, and industry partners – CCL, TTL, and TCS.

Currently, the institute operates from a temporary campus at ARTTC, BSNL, Ranchi. Hostel and residential facilities are available at the BSNL campus and the Khelgaon Housing Complex. Construction of a permanent campus in Sanga village, Kanke block, is in the final stages.

Courses Offered

There are 320 seats in B.Tech each year. Admission is through JEE Main and JEE Main counseling. IIIT Ranchi offers five B.Tech branches:

Computer Science and Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Computer Science (Specialization: AI and Data Science)
Electronics and Communication (Specialization: IoT and Embedded Systems)
Math and Computing

M.Tech, PhD, and Hybrid Courses

In addition to B.Tech, it also offers M.Tech (AI and Data Science, IoT and Embedded Systems) and PhD programs. These are available in both full-time and part-time modes. With the support of IIT Patna, M.Tech, MBA, and MCA courses are also offered in hybrid mode. This is benefiting students and working individuals across the country.

During his meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Prof. Rajiv Srivastava stated that the institute's placement record is continuously improving. A large number of students are being selected by prestigious companies, further strengthening the institute's reputation.
