CBSE Scanned Answer Sheets on DigiLocker: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is preparing to make scanned copies of Class 12 students' answer sheets directly available on DigiLocker starting from the year 2027. Along with their mark sheets, students will also be able to access copies of their evaluated answer sheets. A senior official from the Ministry of Education shared this information. This decision comes at a time when numerous complaints have surfaced in recent years regarding the process of issuing scanned copies of answer booklets.

**Numerous Complaints Regarding Answer Sheets**

Currently, after CBSE results are declared, students must first apply online to obtain a scanned copy of their answer sheets. Subsequently, they can apply for the verification of marks or the re-evaluation of their answers. However, during this process, many students have lodged complaints regarding the swapping of answer sheets, technical glitches in the portal, and payment-related issues.

**Some Students Received Copies Belonging to Others**

According to sources within the Ministry of Education, approximately 20 students this year were mistakenly sent scanned copies of other students' answer sheets. This issue arose due to technical glitches that occurred during the scanning process. One student, Vedant, claimed that after receiving lower-than-expected marks in Physics, he applied for re-evaluation; it was then discovered that another student's answer sheet had been linked to his profile instead of his own.

**Complaints of Overcharging and Failed Payments**

Ministry officials stated that at least 50 students were charged amounts exceeding the prescribed fees while applying for scanned copies of answer sheets, mark verification, or re-evaluation. Many students also complained that the payment gateway was repeatedly failing, resulting in money being debited from their accounts multiple times.

**Demand for Answer Sheets Doubled This Year**

According to the CBSE, approximately 200,000 students obtained scanned copies of their answer sheets in the year 2025. Meanwhile, in 2026, this figure surged to over 400,000. This placed additional strain on the entire system, leading to the emergence of several technical glitches.

**IIT Experts to Conduct Technical Audit**
In light of complaints regarding rising traffic on the portal, payment-related issues, and potential cyberattacks, the Ministry of Education has entrusted teams from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur with the task of auditing the CBSE portal and its technical infrastructure.

**Questions Raised Over On-Screen Marking System**
Some students and teachers have also expressed concerns regarding CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. They allege that during the digital evaluation process, not all pages or answers on certain answer sheets were clearly visible, a factor that could potentially compromise the re-evaluation process. These complaints are also currently under investigation.
