Delhi Schools: Will schools be closed if GRAP-4 is implemented in Delhi? Will work from home be allowed in the office?
Delhi Schools: The air pollution problem in Delhi-NCR remains extremely serious. GRAP-3 is in effect in the capital, under which schools have been ordered to operate in hybrid mode. According to the rules, if the air quality index exceeds 451, GRAP-4 restrictions are implemented. The question arises: will schools in Delhi-NCR be closed after GRAP-4 is implemented in Delhi?
Last year, after GRAP-4 was implemented in Delhi, all schools in Delhi-NCR were closed. Only 10th and 12th-grade schools remained open for board exams.
Have GRAP-4 restrictions been implemented in Delhi?
News of the GRAP-4 restrictions being implemented in Delhi was going viral. However, the Commission for Air Quality Management dismissed this as a rumor. The Commission issued a notice stating that it has come to its notice that some channels and digital media platforms are spreading misleading information regarding the implementation of GRAP-4. Currently, Phase III of the existing GRAP is in effect across the entire NCR. Stakeholders and the public are advised to rely only on official updates/press releases issued by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the NCR and adjoining areas.
What are the provisions and restrictions in GRAP-4?
Vehicle Restrictions - Except for trucks carrying essential goods or running on clean fuels such as CNG, LNG, BS-IV diesel, or electric, all other trucks will be prohibited from entering Delhi.
Construction Ban - Construction work will be halted at all public and government project sites, while GRAP-3 only prohibits non-essential construction work.
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions - Non-essential commercial vehicles from outside Delhi will be prohibited, except for CNG and BS-IV diesel vehicles.
Work from Home - Once implemented, it directs 50% of employees in government and private offices to work from home to reduce traffic congestion.
