Delhi Schools Closed: Due to pollution in Delhi-NCR, classes 1st to 5th have been ordered to be conducted in hybrid mode, GRAP-3 implemented..
Air pollution continues to wreak havoc in Delhi. In response, the third phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-3) has been implemented in the capital. In light of GRAP 3, the Delhi Directorate of Education (DeO) has ordered all schools in Delhi-NCR to conduct classes in hybrid mode for students from grades 1 to 5.
Which schools will be subject to the rule?
According to the order issued by the Delhi Directorate of Education, this rule will apply to all government, private, and other schools in Delhi-NCR. This decision has been taken due to the air quality in Delhi reaching extremely poor levels.
According to the details shared by the DEO, "The heads of all government, government-aided, unaided, recognized private schools of the Department of Education, NDMC, MCD, and Delhi Cantonment Board are directed to conduct classes in hybrid mode, i.e., both physical and online (wherever online mode is possible), for students up to grade 5, with immediate effect until further notice."
Pollution levels in the capital remain in the "very poor" category. The Municipal Corporation of India (MCD) has intensified anti-pollution measures, deploying anti-smog guns and mechanical sweepers, and tightening fines for violators.
AQI crosses 400
The AQI in many parts of Delhi has exceeded 400. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the air quality is expected to deteriorate further. Consequently, Graph 3 has been implemented in the capital. Heavy vehicles will also be prohibited from entering the capital.
