Delhi Nursery Admission: The race for applications for admission to nursery, KG, and first grade in Delhi's private schools for the 2026-27 academic session is scheduled to begin on December 4th. Schools have begun releasing admission criteria for this purpose. Most major schools are uploading their criteria on their websites using a 100-point formula. Schools have included distance (neighborhood-distance), siblings, and alumni (parents being alumni) in their criteria. Schools have given the highest 20-70 points for distance.

With this criterion, being an alumnus of siblings and parents will be a game-changer in admissions. Sanskriti Public School, located in Chanakyapuri, has given the highest 30 points for distance in its admission criteria; this distance can be viewed on Google Maps. Children will receive 30 points for distances within 10 kilometers of their home to school, 20 points for distances between 10 and 12 kilometers, and 10 points for distances between 12 and 14 kilometers. 25 points each for siblings and alumni.

Schools have implemented a transparent point system based on distance and siblings.

Vidya Bal Bhavan School in Mayur Vihar has established three categories for distance criteria. 70 points are awarded for distances between 0 and 1 kilometer, 60 points for distances between 1 and 8 kilometers, and 50 points for distances beyond 8 kilometers. 20 points are awarded for siblings, and 10 points for children of alumni. Similarly, Indraprastha International School in Dwarka has assigned a maximum of 55 points to children living within 0 to 12 kilometers of the school. 45 points for those living within 12 to 15 kilometers, and 35 points for those living beyond 15 kilometers. 15 points each have been set for siblings, former wards, and staff wards.

Delhi Public School has set 40 points for those living within a 0-15 kilometer radius, 30 points for siblings, 25 points for alumni, and 5 points for single parents. Shri Ram School in Vasant Vihar has set 50 points for those living within a 0-15 kilometer radius, 40 points for siblings and alumni, and 10 points for the first child. Schools say they have set the standards to be transparent. The inclusion of sibling and alumni standards is intended to foster a connection between the school and the family.

Unable to upload standards due to a lack of a link
The Directorate of Education had promised to provide a link to the online module for schools from November 28th. Before the application process begins, schools are required to prepare their own standards and upload them along with the points on this link. Schools complain that they are unable to upload the standards due to a lack of a link. Till Saturday afternoon, schools tried to upload the standards on the Directorate's website, but the link was not available.
