Candidates applying for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 should intensify their exam preparations. The CBSE could announce the exam date at any moment. It is worth noting that the exam was originally scheduled for September 6 but was postponed following a court order; subsequently, a window for re-application was provided from August 25 to September 1.

**Exam date expected after the portal closes**
According to the earlier notification issued by the CBSE, the revised exam date is to be announced after the application portal closes. It is now expected that the exam date will be declared on any day this week.

**Minimum passing marks for the exam**
Qualifying for the CTET is mandatory to become eligible to work as a teacher. Consequently, the exam is now conducted twice a year. To succeed, candidates must secure the category-specific cutoff marks: 60% for the General/Unreserved (UR) category and 55% for OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories. Candidates who pass Paper 1 become eligible to teach classes 1 to 5, while those who qualify for Paper 2 become eligible to teach classes 6 to 8.

**When will the city slip and admit card be available?**
The city slip for all applicants will be released 10 to 15 days before the exam date, allowing candidates to plan their travel in advance. Admit cards will be issued four days prior to the exam date.

**Exam shifts and timings**
The CTET exam is conducted in two shifts. The timing for the first shift is from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, while the second shift runs from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

Candidates appearing for the first shift must report to the center 120 minutes in advance—that is, at 7:30 AM—whereas candidates for the second shift must report at 12:30 PM.
