CSAB Counselling 2026: Opportunity for admission to vacant B.Tech seats; CSAB counselling begins—apply by August 5..
The application process for the CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) special counseling for students who qualified in JEE Main 2026 has commenced today, July 28. Following the completion of all JoSAA counseling rounds, admission to vacant B.Tech seats in NITs, IIITs, IIEST, SPAs, and GFTIs will be granted through this process. There will be two special rounds of counseling this time. This is considered a crucial final opportunity for students who did not secure their preferred seat during JoSAA counseling or are seeking a better college and branch. Applications and choice filling will remain open until August 5.
The counseling process covers 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, IIEST, 3 SPAs, and over 50 GFTI institutes. Data from previous years indicates that approximately 13,000 to 14,000 seats remain vacant, including seats at prestigious NITs and IIITs. Consequently, this presents a promising opportunity for students who secured lower ranks during the JoSAA process. The seat allotment result for the first round will be declared on August 6.
Who can apply?
All candidates eligible for JoSAA based on their JEE Main 2026 performance may apply for CSAB counseling. This includes students who did not secure a seat in JoSAA, those who forfeited their seat, or those whose seat was cancelled for any reason. For admission, General category students must have secured at least 75% marks in Class 12 or ranked within the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. A minimum requirement of 65% marks applies to SC, ST, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates.
