As far as age is concerned, the age of the candidates should be between 18 and 23 years. Selection is done after the written exam, physical test (PET/PST), trade test, and medical.

1. Constable (GD or Tradesman): Qualification: 10th or 12th pass. An ITI certificate is also required for some posts. Age should be between 18 and 23 years. Candidates from the reserved category get age relaxation. Vacancies keep coming up for these posts from time to time. For this, one has to apply by visiting the CRPF website crpf.gov.in. In the written examination, questions of general knowledge, maths, reasoning, etc., are asked. Apart from this, running, jumping, etc., are done in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Similarly, height and chest measurements are taken in the Physical Standard Test (PST). There is a trade test for tradesmen. The last step is document verification and medical examination. Constable gets a basic pay of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month (level 3). Apart from this, DA, HRA, transport allowance, and medical benefits are also available. Overall, the initial salary is ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 per month.

2. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) or Sub-Inspector (SI): To become a Sub-Inspector in the CRPF, it is necessary to have a graduation or diploma. Its age limit has been fixed from 20 to 25 years. Selection for this post is also done through a written examination, a PET/PST, an interview, or a skill test. ASI gets a salary from ₹ 29,200 to ₹ 92,300 (Level 5), SI gets ₹ 35,400 to ₹ 1,12,400 (Level 6). Apart from this, a total of ₹ 40,000 to ₹ 60,000 per month is received as allowance.

3. Officer Level (ACO-Assistant Commandant): For this post in the CRPF, the candidate must be a graduate. Talking about age, the age of the candidate for this post should also be between 20 and 25 years. Selection for these posts is done through the UPSC CAPF exam. Apart from this, there is also a physical and an interview. The salary of an Assistant Commandant in CRPF ranges from ₹ 56,100 to ₹ 1,77,500 (Level 10).
