Council schools to open from July 1; BSA issues guidelines to protect children from the heat..
Council schools in Uttar Pradesh are set to reopen on July 1. In light of the severe heat and ongoing heatwave conditions, Prayagraj's District Basic Education Officer (BSA), Anil Kumar, has issued important guidelines. The BSA has urged all Block Education Officers (BEOs), headmasters, teachers, and parents to prioritize the health and safety of the children above all else.
BSA Anil Kumar advised students to exercise special caution while commuting to and from school. He instructed children to wear light-colored clothing that fully covers their bodies when stepping out. Additionally, he recommended using umbrellas, hats, and sunglasses to protect against intense sunlight and hot winds.
**Advice on protecting children from the heat**
The BSA stated that children should consume adequate fluids at regular intervals during the hot season. He recommended a higher intake of cool water, lemonade, buttermilk, coconut water, and other healthy beverages to prevent dehydration and reduce the risk of heatstroke.
The BSA also instructed school administrations and parents to arrange for curtains and other necessary measures to block direct sunlight at home, school, and workplaces. He emphasized the need for extra care regarding children, the elderly, and the sick. He advised seeking immediate medical attention at the nearest hospital if anyone exhibits symptoms of heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
**Avoid going out in the afternoon**
Anil Kumar stated that one should avoid going out unnecessarily between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, when the heat is most intense. He advised against stepping out into the sun barefoot or with exposed skin. Furthermore, he recommended avoiding stale food and meals with excessively high protein content. The BSA also clarified that children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles parked in the sun. He advised against wearing dark or bright-colored clothing and recommended avoiding tight or skimpy garments. They have also appealed to people to avoid alcohol, tea, coffee, carbonated drinks, and excessive physical exertion in extreme heat.
