CLAT UG Counselling 2025: Details of admission process and options
The admission counseling process of CLAT UG 2025 will be conducted in a total of three phases. The first phase of the process is over, now the candidates whose names have appeared in the second allotment list can choose the ‘Freeze’, ‘Float’ or ‘Exit’ option as per their choice and pay a non-refundable confirmation fee of Rs 20,000 by 9 June 2025.
Freeze Option: If the candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat and does not want to participate in any further rounds, he can choose the ‘Freeze’ option. This means that the candidate accepts that seat and will not claim any other seat in the future.
Float Option: If the candidate has not yet got his first choice NLU, but wants to wait for a better option in the further rounds, he can choose the ‘Float’ option. This will keep his current seat reserved, but he will still have the chance of getting a higher-priority seat in the next round.
Exit option: If a candidate wishes to withdraw from the counseling process completely, he/she can choose the ‘Exit’ option. If a candidate has already opted for the ‘Freeze’ or ‘Float’ option and then ‘Exits’, his/her seat will be allotted to another candidate and the confirmation fee deposited will be forfeited.
Allotment as per preference list
The council has already clarified that candidates will be allotted seats only in those NLUs that they have included in their preference list.
“If a candidate has given only 15 preferences, he/she will be allotted seats only in those 15 NLUs, even if seats are vacant in other NLUs and he/she is eligible as per merit,” – says the counseling notice.
