CLAT 2026 Question Paper Analysis: The Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT) 2026 has been conducted. CLAT 2026 was conducted in over 140 examination centers across the country for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. Analyzing the CLAT 2026 paper reveals some changes. Students and experts say that the question pattern has changed this time, similar to CAT 2026. It is believed that this could potentially lead to some changes in the cutoff. The provisional answer key for CLAT 2026 will be released on December 10.

Let's find out how the CLAT 2026 paper performed. How many questions were asked in total, and how many were from each subject? What changes have been seen in the CLAT 2026 pattern? What are its implications?

Change in question pattern, 120 questions were asked.
Students are giving mixed feedback on the CLAT 2026 paper. However, most students have stated that this year's CLAT question pattern has changed, with more straightforward questions being asked. Regarding the CLAT question pattern, a total of 120 questions were asked. These questions were asked in five sections: English Language, Current Affairs, Quantitative Techniques, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning. All questions were multiple-choice.

Understand the paper section-wise.
English Language: Experts are categorizing the English Language section of the CLAT 2026 paper as easy to moderate. This is primarily because the English section featured more vocabulary-heavy questions compared to previous years, while the English session featured literature-oriented questions.

Logical Reasoning: Experts have categorized the logical reasoning section of the CLAT 2026 paper as moderate and tricky. Professor Anu Mehta, a faculty member at the DU Law Centre, says this was the most challenging section. The questions involved analytical reasoning, which were contrary to students' expectations.

Legal Reasoning: Experts have categorized the legal reasoning section of the CLAT 2026 paper as easy to moderate. Experts say that this section was student-friendly and is considered one of the most scoring sections.

General Knowledge: Experts have also categorized the general knowledge and current affairs sections of the CLAT 2026 paper as easy to moderate. The questions in this section were straightforward. For example, questions on American taxation, SCO, Air India, and Pahalgam were included in the paper. Experts have also categorized this section as a high-scoring section.

Quantitative Techniques: The Quantitative Techniques section was also easy in CLAT 2026, i.e., calculative. It included questions related to ratios, percentages, proportions, and arithmetic fundamentals. This is also considered a scoring section.

How will the cutoff be?
Analyzing the CLAT 2026 paper, three of the five sections were easy. For example, the question pattern in the English, General Knowledge, and Quantitative Techniques sessions was straightforward, while the remaining two sections ranged from moderate to tricky. It is believed that this will also impact the cutoff. Consequently, the cutoff is likely to be high, with the General category likely to be 85 and the OBC category likely to be 76.
