Civil engineering course in Hindi medium launched in MP; students to receive ₹2 lakh as well..

Pursuing engineering is set to become easier for Hindi-medium students in Madhya Pradesh. Indore's Shri G.S. Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) has launched a B.Tech program in Civil Engineering taught in Hindi. This course has been introduced starting this academic year. Notably, students enrolled in this course may also receive an incentive of ₹2 lakh from the Madhya Pradesh government in their final year. The institute has created a special batch of 30 seats for this program, with approximately 20 students already admitted.

**Facilities for Studying and Taking Exams in Hindi**
The objective of this new SGSITS course is to bring students who completed their schooling in the Hindi medium into the fold of technical education. According to Sunil Ajmera, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, many Hindi-medium students struggle to grasp engineering subjects taught in English. This language barrier often impacts their studies, sometimes leading students to drop out of the course.

In this new program, students will be able to study engineering subjects in Hindi and take their examinations in the same language. This will make it easier for them to understand the subject matter and technical concepts.

**Four Years of Preparation**
The institute stated that the launch of this Hindi-medium engineering course was not a sudden decision. Faculty members had been working for nearly four years to translate technical study materials from English into Hindi. Additionally, training workshops were conducted to prepare teachers to instruct technical subjects in Hindi.

**Continued Emphasis on English**
Despite the instruction being in Hindi, students will not be cut off from English. The institute will also focus on improving the students' English language proficiency and technical vocabulary. Officials note that knowledge of English is essential for further studies and future employment. Therefore, while concepts will be explained in Hindi, English technical terms will be introduced as needed. This approach allows students to study in their native language while simultaneously acquiring the English skills necessary for their future careers.
