Children's dream of attending a Sainik School is set to come true; registration for classes 6 and 9 has begun..
This is a great opportunity for parents who dream of enrolling their children in a Sainik School. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the registration window for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2027. Registrations are now open for admission into classes 6 and 9. Applications can be submitted via the official website, nta.ac.in, until December 2, 2026. Many had been eagerly awaiting the start of the registration process, as it has been delayed compared to previous years.
**Examination to be held on January 31**
Admission to classes 6 and 9 in the 33 existing Sainik Schools across the country is granted based on the AISSEE. This is a mandatory entrance examination; admission to a Sainik School is not possible without it. The same process will apply to admissions for new Sainik Schools as well. The examination will be conducted nationwide on January 31, 2027.
**Who is eligible to apply?**
For admission to Sainik Schools, candidates must be between 13 and 15 years of age. This age will be calculated as of March 31, 2027—meaning the child must have been born between April 2012 and March 31, 2014. The application fee is ₹850 for the General, OBC, and other categories, while it is ₹700 for SC/ST candidates.
**What is the exam pattern? ****
In the AISSEE, the mathematics section carries the most weight. For Class 6, 50 out of the total 150 questions are from this subject, with each question worth three marks. Additionally, there will be 25 questions each in the subjects of Intelligence, General Knowledge, and Language, with each section carrying 50 marks. The total paper will be worth 300 marks, and candidates will be allotted 150 minutes to complete it. For Class 9, the duration is 180 minutes. The examination consists of a 400-mark paper containing 150 questions. Mathematics has the highest number of questions—50 in total—with each question carrying 4 marks.
