The study of a complex science subject like Chemistry will now be possible in Maithili. This initiative will be possible based on a special idea. In fact, under the New Education Policy 2020, over 3,500 chemistry terms have been translated into Maithili. These 3,500 terms are fundamental technical terms of chemistry, making it possible to fully study chemistry in Maithili.

The Scientific and Technical Terminology Commission of the Government of India, in collaboration with Lalit Narayan Mithila University, has made this work of enabling the study of a complex subject like chemistry in Maithili. A special expert committee translated over 3,500 technical chemistry terms into Maithili. This committee included experts from Hindi, Maithili, and English. It is believed that such efforts will also make it possible to translate other subjects into other local languages.
