SSC GD Constable Exam: Major chaos erupted in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, during the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Constable GD examination. Far more candidates than the center's actual capacity were summoned to the examination venue, leading to an outburst of anger among the students. Enraged by their inability to take the exam, the candidates went on a rampage inside the center, blocked traffic on the roads, and plunged the entire area into pandemonium. Subsequently, the police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, citing technical reasons, the second and third shifts of the examination were cancelled in five districts, including Prayagraj.

How Did the Situation Deteriorate at the Prayagraj Exam Center?
On Monday, a large number of candidates arrived at the I-Tech Zone Center in Andawa, Prayagraj, to appear for the SSC Constable GD examination. This center had been established within the premises of the Sita Singh Mahila Mahavidyalaya. The candidates alleged that if the center lacked adequate seating and computer systems, there was no justification for summoning such a massive number of examinees to the venue in the first place. The atmosphere turned tense when students—who had traveled from far-flung areas amidst scorching heat—could not find a place to sit for the examination.

Capacity of 650 Systems, Yet Over 1,000 Students Arrived
According to reports, a total of 650 computer systems were available at the I-Tech Zone Center for the second and third shifts of the examination. However, for the second shift—which was supposed to accommodate approximately 505 candidates—a staggering 1,035 students were allocated to the center. Similarly, for the third shift, 1,034 examinees were allocated to the center instead of the intended 495. Center administrators stated that they received information regarding the excess allocation of candidates via email only on Monday. It was not possible to make additional arrangements within such a short timeframe, a situation that ultimately led to the chaos and disorder at the examination center.

Students Resort to Vandalism After Failing to Secure Seats
When a large number of students failed to find available computer systems, their frustration boiled over into a violent outburst. Enraged examinees smashed computers, laptops, CPUs, monitors, chairs, and furniture kept inside the examination halls. The commotion escalated to such an extent that even AC units, coolers, CCTV cameras, generators, and water coolers located in several rooms were damaged. For a brief period, the examination center witnessed near-stampede conditions, plunging the premises into chaos. According to eyewitnesses, the students' anger continued to mount as they felt they were being made to bear the brunt of the administration's errors.

**Students Take to the Streets; Block GT Road**

Following the uproar at the examination center, a large number of candidates spilled out onto the streets and began protesting. The students staged a road blockade on GT Road, disrupting traffic flow. The commotion on the road persisted for nearly an hour. During this time, a massive traffic jam ensued, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

**Police Arrive; Situation Brought Under Control**

Upon receiving reports of the disturbance, police and administrative officials rushed to the scene. Several officers—including Trainee IPS Ishwar Lal Gurjar, ACP Tharwai Arun Parashar, ACP Phulpur Vivek Yadav, and Sarai Inayat Station House Officer Sanjay Gupta—arrived at the spot and attempted to reason with the students. The police eventually managed to pacify the irate candidates, cleared the road blockade, and restored traffic movement. During this process, the police also took one student into custody; he is alleged to have been attempting to flee with a laptop.
