Lucknow University (LU) has taken several significant decisions concerning researchers and faculty members. The university's Executive Council has approved faculty-specific binding colors for PhD dissertations to facilitate easier identification. Additionally, teachers from government and government-aided degree colleges have been permitted to supervise part-time PhD students. A procedure for converting a regular PhD into a part-time PhD has also been established. The meeting also addressed proposals regarding reservation in PhD admissions, new teaching positions in the Faculty of Law, and the naming of the university's sports complex.

The Executive Council meeting took place on Thursday at Lucknow University, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jai Prakash Saini. Held in the 'Manthan Kaksh' (conference room) of the administrative building, the meeting determined three specific binding colors based on faculties to streamline the documentation of research work.

**Three Colors Designated for PhD Theses**

**Blue:** Dissertations from the faculties of Management, Commerce, Education, Science, and Engineering will be bound in blue.

**Maroon:** Maroon has been designated for dissertations from the faculties of Arts, Fine Arts, Law, and the Abhinavgupt Institute.

**Forest Green:** Dissertations from the faculties of Agriculture, Yoga & Alternative Medicine, Ayurveda, and Unani will be prepared in this color.

The objective of this initiative is to simplify the process of identifying dissertations and verifying related documents.

**College Teachers Can Supervise Part-Time PhDs**

The Executive Council has authorized teachers from government and government-aided affiliated degree colleges to serve as supervisors for part-time PhD students. This move is expected to provide researchers with greater opportunities for guidance.

**SOP for Converting Regular PhD to Part-Time PhD**

The university has approved a five-step Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for converting a regular PhD into a part-time PhD. Under this process, an application must be submitted to the concerned Head of Department. Subsequently, the processes involving the recommendation of the departmental research committee, approval from the Vice-Chancellor, issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Registrar, and payment of the prescribed fees must be completed.

**Five Percent Reservation in PhD Admissions**
Acceding to the demand of the College Teachers' Association, a proposal to provide a five-percent reservation in PhD admissions for the wards of teachers from affiliated colleges was also approved. This procedure will mirror the system currently in place for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Information regarding the formal approval received from the Raj Bhavan for the Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program (AEDP) ordinance was also shared.

**Decisions on Sports Complex and LLB Program**
According to University spokesperson Mukul Srivastava, the newly constructed sports complex will be named 'Prof. DP Singh Krida Bhavan' in honor of former Vice-Chancellor Prof. DP Singh. Additionally, approval has been granted for 17 new self-financed teaching positions for the five-year LLB program. These positions are expected to facilitate the smoother conduct of academic activities within the Law Faculty.
