There is a major update for candidates preparing for Patwari recruitment in Delhi. The recruitment rules for the position of Patwari have been amended. The Lieutenant Governor has approved these changes, which now allow graduates from any discipline to apply for Patwari posts in Delhi. Furthermore, these positions will now be filled not only through direct recruitment but also via deputation. The Revenue Department of Delhi has 230 sanctioned Patwari posts, yet only 60 of these are currently filled.

Let us examine the details of this development, including who is eligible to apply and the number of vacancies expected to be filled.

22 proposals, including those for expressways, also approved.
Previous requirements: Mathematics in Class 12 and a computer diploma.
Previously, while graduates were eligible to apply for Patwari posts in Delhi, they were required to have studied Mathematics in Class 12 and possess a computer diploma. Additionally, candidates were required to hold a diploma or certificate in cadastral surveying or surveying using the 'Total Station' method.

New eligibility: Graduates from any discipline can now apply.
The recruitment rules have been revised, allowing graduates from any field to apply for the Patwari position. A computer diploma is no longer a mandatory requirement for applicants.

Reason for the rule change:
Last year, the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) invited applications for Patwari recruitment; however, they could not find a single candidate who met the mandatory requirement of possessing a computer diploma. Consequently, the positions could not be filled, which prompted the revision of the recruitment rules. Training to be Provided After Recruitment; Posts to be Filled via Deputation
Under the new recruitment rules for Patwaris, selected candidates will undergo a three-month training program. The department will provide training in computer operations, as well as in surveying and mapping, to all appointees.

Furthermore, in addition to direct recruitment, Patwari positions can now also be filled through deputation. Officials currently holding equivalent positions within the Central government, state governments, or Union Territory administrations are eligible for such deputation. Additionally, the new rules offer age-limit relaxations for departmental candidates, increasing the maximum age limit from 27 to 40 years.

170 Vacant Posts
There are currently 170 vacant Patwari positions in Delhi. Originally, there were 218 such posts; however, following the creation of new districts, 12 additional posts were established, bringing the total number of Patwari positions to 230. Of these, 60 are currently occupied by serving Patwaris, while 170 remain vacant—positions that are now set to be filled.
