CBSE has issued a notice regarding the rules of the 10th and 12th board examinations. CBSE has said that it will be mandatory for all students to follow these rules. Class 10 and 12, i.e., these two classes are two-year programs, which include classes 9-10 and 11-12. CBSE has said that it will be mandatory to study for two consecutive years to appear in the board examination.
CBSE said that students are required to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to appear in the board examination.
According to the new rules of CBSE, internal assessment of students will be mandatory for two years. In the absence of this, the results of the students will not be declared.
Class 10 students can choose a maximum of 2 additional subjects, and class 12 students can choose 1 additional subject, which will also have to be studied compulsorily for two years.
Subjects whose permission is not available in the school (such as teacher, laboratory, or administrative consent), students will not be able to take them for the board examination.
Students who have been given “compartment” or “essential repeat” in additional subjects will be able to appear in the exam again as a private candidate.
Students who do not follow these rules will not be able to take additional subjects in the board exam as a private candidate.
Two examinations for class 10 from 2026
CBSE is going to conduct two board examinations for class 10 in 2026. The first board exam will be compulsory. At the same time, students will be able to appear in the second board exam to increase their marks and pass.
