The CBSE has decided to conduct complete digital checking of answer sheets for the 12th board exams from 2026. Previously, teachers checked paper copies manually, but now they will view scanned copies on computer screens. This will eliminate the need to send copies from one location to another. Teachers will be able to evaluate them from their own schools using login IDs. Let's learn about the instructions already given to students.

Previously, it took approximately 60 days to check answer sheets, but the new system is expected to reduce this time. The board says this is not just a technical change, but a step towards improving the entire examination system.

Important Instructions Regarding Online Screening
Mridu Gupta, PGT teacher at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Brahmapuri, Delhi, said that students have already been instructed to write clearly with a dark pen. Use a dark pencil when drawing figures and avoid excessive cutting. Because the answer sheets will be scanned and displayed on the screen, illegible handwriting or excessive erasure can make the answers difficult to read. Unclear handwriting can impact the marks.

Totaling errors will be eliminated.
The biggest advantage of the new digital system will be that there will be no errors in adding marks. The software will automatically add the marks for all questions, eliminating the possibility of incorrect totals. Previously, human error often led to errors in totaling, causing inconvenience to students.

Results will be faster and more accurate.
Digital checking will mandate marking for every answer. This will ensure no questions are missed, resulting in more accurate results. Data entry work will also be reduced, allowing results to be declared faster than before.
