CBSE Scholarship 2025: Single Girl Child to Get Monthly Aid for Studies, Apply by October 23
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has once again come forward with a major initiative to support education for girls. Under the CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme 2025, the board will bear a significant part of the educational expenses of meritorious students who are the only daughters of their parents. Applications for this scholarship have already begun and can be submitted until October 23, 2025 on the official CBSE website – cbse.gov.in.
Aim of the Scheme
The scholarship is designed to promote girls’ education and gender equality. CBSE emphasizes that no talented girl should be forced to discontinue her studies due to financial constraints. By offering financial assistance, the board hopes to reduce dropout rates among female students and ensure they continue their higher secondary education without hurdles.
Who Can Apply?
Only those students are eligible who are the single daughters in their families and have cleared their Class 10 board examination with at least 70% marks. They must now be enrolled in Class 11 at a CBSE-affiliated school.
Apart from academic performance, there are a few more conditions:

The tuition fee in Class 10 should not have exceeded ₹2,500 per month, while for Classes 11 and 12, the limit is ₹3,000 per month.

For Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students, the maximum monthly tuition fee should not exceed ₹6,000.

The annual family income must not be more than ₹8 lakh.

Students must maintain good conduct and regular attendance to continue availing of the scholarship benefits.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates under this scheme will receive ₹1,000 per month for two years. The scholarship starts from Class 11 and continues into Class 12. Renewal is possible if the student secures at least 70% marks in Class 11 and moves on to Class 12 without any academic gap.
This monthly financial support aims to ease the financial burden on families and help students focus entirely on academics. The CBSE believes the initiative will also play a role in encouraging more parents to educate their daughters.
Categories of Scholarships
Applications are open in two categories:

Fresh Scholarships (2025 session): For single girl students who passed Class 10 in 2025 and are now pursuing Class 11 in CBSE schools.

Renewal of Scholarships (2024 batch): For those students who were granted the scholarship in 2024 and are currently studying in Class 12.
How to Apply
Interested and eligible students can apply online by visiting cbse.gov.in. The application form needs to be submitted carefully as incomplete or unverifiable applications will be rejected.
The school authorities are responsible for verifying the applications. Along with the form, parents are required to upload a notarized affidavit declaring their income, accompanied by the latest fee receipts verified by the school.
