CBSE Revises Post-Result Process; Class 10 Students to Receive Scanned Copies First

CBSE has modified the post-result process for both Class 10 board examinations. Students who are dissatisfied with their results must first obtain a scanned copy of their evaluated answer booklet.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a significant change to the post-result procedure for students appearing in the Class 10 main board examination and the second board examination of 2026. Students dissatisfied with their results are now required to first obtain a scanned copy of their evaluated answer booklet. Only after doing so will they be eligible to apply for marks verification or the re-evaluation of answers.

In a notice issued on August 5, the Board stated that the entire process would be completed in three stages. It is worth noting that the results for the main board examination were declared on April 15, 2026, while the results for the second board examination were released on July 18, 2026. All applications for post-result services will be accepted exclusively online.

Process to be Completed in Three Stages

CBSE has structured the post-result process into three stages this time as well. Initially, students will obtain a scanned copy of their evaluated answer booklet. Subsequently, if they identify any errors, they may apply for marks verification. If objections regarding the evaluation of specific answers persist even after verification, an application for the re-evaluation of those specific questions can be submitted. The Board has clarified that students cannot apply directly for verification or re-evaluation without first obtaining the scanned copy.

Application Process for Scanned Copies Began on August 5

Students can apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer booklets from August 5 to August 9, 2026. A fee of ₹300 per subject has been fixed for this service. CBSE has advised students to carefully examine the scanned copy upon receipt before deciding whether or not to apply for verification or re-evaluation.

Applications for Verification and Re-evaluation to Begin on August 16

After viewing the scanned copy of their answer sheets, students will be able to apply for marks verification and re-evaluation from August 16 to August 19, 2026. The fee is ₹300 per answer sheet for marks verification and ₹100 per question for re-evaluation. Students wishing to avail themselves of both facilities must pay separate fees for each process.

What Will Be Checked During Verification?

According to CBSE, the verification process will check whether any answer was left unevaluated, if the total marks were calculated correctly, and if any errors occurred while recording the final marks from the answer sheet. If a student remains dissatisfied after verification, they may apply for the re-evaluation of specific questions they have selected. Additionally, the Board has clarified that the marks resulting from re-evaluation—whether they increase, decrease, or remain unchanged—will be considered final. If the marks change following re-evaluation, the student must surrender the previously issued marksheet and certificate; CBSE will then issue a new marksheet and certificate.
