This is crucial for all students appearing for the CBSE 10th Board Exams, as it clearly outlines the complete division of 100 marks for all subjects.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important notice for the upcoming 2026 10th Board Exams. This notice clearly outlines the complete marking pattern for theory, practical, project, and internal assessment (IA) for different subjects. This notice is extremely useful for students studying in the new session, as it now clarifies how the 100 marks will be divided for each subject and how much attention is required for each section.

According to the CBSE, every year, many schools make mistakes while uploading practical, project, or internal assessment marks. These errors impact students' final mark sheets, and students later request corrections. This time, the Board has issued clear rules from the outset, warning schools to avoid any mistakes, as they will not be given the opportunity to correct them later.

The Board has urged schools to carefully read this notice and strictly follow all instructions. A list of each subject has also been released, detailing the separate marks for theory, practical, project, and internal assessment.

Marks Distribution: A Complete Calculation of 100 Marks

According to the notice, the 100 marks for all subjects are divided into four sections: theory, practical, project, and internal assessment. Each subject has a different weightage for each section, and this is a detail the Board has specifically highlighted this time so students can tailor their preparation accordingly.

This information is also important for students because if practicals carry a higher weightage in a subject, the preparation method also changes. Furthermore, the importance of marks based on map work, lab work, models, oral exams, and activities also increases.

CBSE Warning

The Board has clearly stated that many schools are in a hurry or careless when uploading marks, leading to errors. This time, the Board has already issued instructions to schools to avoid any mistakes, as there will be no option to correct marks later.

The Board also states that the list will specify whether an external examiner will be appointed for each subject. Practicals for some subjects will be conducted using answer sheets provided by the Board, while for others, schools will use their own copies.

Why is this notice important for students?

Students often focus only on theory and take internal assessment marks lightly. However, in many subjects, IA carries 20 to 30 marks, which significantly impact the final result. Furthermore, project work and practicals also play a significant role in the overall score.

If students know in advance how much weightage is given to each subject, they can balance their preparation and plan for good marks throughout the year.

New syllabus and sample papers also released

Along with the distribution of marks, CBSE has also released the complete syllabus for the year 2025–26. This syllabus forms the basis for complete preparation for the 10th board exam. Sample papers released by the board are also now available, which provide not only the level of questions but also the marking scheme. Students can assess their preparation by solving these model papers. Both the syllabus and sample papers are extremely important this session, as the board exam questions will be prepared based on them.
