CBSE Re-evaluation: There is great news of relief for the lakhs of students currently in a state of uncertainty regarding the CBSE Class 12 Board examination results. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally opened the portal for the Verification of Marks and Re-evaluation. Students who have already obtained scanned copies of their answer sheets can now apply online for the verification of their marks and for re-evaluation. The Board has clarified that this application process will remain open until June 6, 2026. Consequently, students who harbor any doubts regarding their marks may submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe.

CBSE Shares Update on Social Media
Announcing the launch of the portal, CBSE posted an update on its official 'X' (formerly Twitter) account. The Board stated that the Verification and Re-evaluation portal is now live and urged students to watch a video explaining the entire procedure before submitting their applications. CBSE further noted that students can easily apply by following the step-by-step instructions provided.

Portal Opens Amidst OSM Controversy
This year, the re-evaluation process has commenced at a time when CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system has been a subject of continuous discussion. For the first time, the Board implemented a digital checking system on a large scale, wherein examiners evaluated scanned copies of students' answer sheets. Following the release of the results, numerous students took to social media to raise questions regarding the evaluation process. While some students complained about receiving lower-than-expected marks, others alleged irregularities in the scanned copies—such as blurred images—and claimed that their answers had not been evaluated correctly. Consequently, student interest and anticipation regarding the re-evaluation process had intensified significantly, resulting in the receipt of over 400,000 applications for the same.

**Major Relief in Fees as Well**
Amidst the OSM controversy and student grievances, the CBSE has announced a significant reduction in the fees for post-result services. The revised fee structure now stands at ₹100 per subject for a scanned copy of the answer sheet, ₹100 per subject for marks verification, and ₹25 per question for re-evaluation. Previously, the fees were ₹700 for a scanned copy, ₹500 for marks verification, and ₹100 per question for re-evaluation; these rates have now been substantially lowered. In essence, the Board has provided major relief to students by implementing a drastic reduction in fees.

**Fee Refund if Marks Increase**

The CBSE has also announced that if a student's marks increase following re-evaluation, the re-evaluation fee paid by the student will be refunded.

**How to Apply for Re-evaluation?**
To apply for re-evaluation, students must first obtain a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheet. Carefully examine the scanned copy to check for any unanswered questions, errors in totaling, missing pages, or discrepancies in the evaluation process. If any such irregularity is detected, apply for marks verification. If it appears that insufficient marks have been awarded for a specific question, or if the evaluation of a particular question was incorrect, then apply for the re-evaluation of that specific question.
