CBSE New Syllabus: CBSE Class 9 Syllabus Revised; New Curriculum Divided into Three Sections..
CBSE New Syllabus: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the new syllabus for Class 9. The new Class 9 syllabus was unveiled during an event held on Thursday. The CBSE Class 9 syllabus has been formulated by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and has been prepared in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. The new Class 9 syllabus is divided into three sections. Furthermore, while several chapters have been added, others have been removed.
Let us explore the key highlights of the new CBSE Class 9 syllabus. We will examine the subject-wise changes introduced in the Class 9 curriculum to understand exactly what has been added and what has been removed.
**3 Sections in the Class 9 Syllabus**
The CBSE Class 9 syllabus has been designed under the aegis of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. The Class 9 curriculum is categorized into three distinct sections: one dedicated to Language Core, the second to Core Subjects, and the third to Holistic and Vocational Education. While the subjects across these three sections remain largely the same as before, the specific chapters and topics have changed—specifically, new topics have been introduced, while certain others have been removed. Let us examine the contents of the syllabus section by section.
**Section 1: Language Core**
This section encompasses English (based on the 'Kaveri' textbook), Hindi, Sanskrit, and Urdu, as well as various Modern Indian Languages such as Tamil and Bengali.
**Section 2: Core Subjects**
The second section covers the core academic subjects. This includes Mathematics (offered at both Standard and Advanced levels), Science, and Social Science (comprising History, Geography, and Economics).
**Section 3: Holistic and Vocational**
This section incorporates Art Education, Physical Education, Vocational Studies, and Life Skills.
**Changes in Syllabi for Several Subjects: Chapters Added and Removed**
The Class 9 syllabus, formulated in alignment with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, has undergone significant revisions. Numerous subject-specific changes have been implemented across the curriculum. For instance, while new chapters have been added to several subjects, others have been removed. Let us explore the subject-wise changes that have taken place.

Under the History/Society section, students will study topics such as the Harappan Civilization and the Bhakti Movement. In Geography, the curriculum will cover Plate Tectonics (previously taught in Class 11), the Interior of the Earth, and Ocean Biomes (newly added topics). Similarly, in Political Science, students will study Justice, Authority, and Elections (previously taught in Class 11). Furthermore, in Economics, students will explore practical topics such as Budgeting.
**English:** In the Class 9 English syllabus, a new textbook titled ‘Kaveri’ will be prescribed, replacing the previous textbooks, ‘Beehive’ and ‘Moments’. Meanwhile, the Writing section will focus on Critical Thinking, Research, and Persuasive Essays.
**Chapters from Classes 10 and 11 Included in Class 9 Textbooks**

For instance, chapters previously taught in Classes 10 and 11 have now been incorporated into the Class 9 syllabus. Furthermore, the implementation of this new syllabus will also bring about changes in the examination pattern. Notably, the new curriculum is being characterized as a syllabus that prioritizes skills over rote learning.
