CBSE New Plan: In the race to study and build a career, children are becoming more dependent on coaching than on school. Both the Ministry of Education and the CBSE have expressed concern about this. In this regard, committees within the Ministry and the Board have proposed new suggestions to ensure that children receive a complete environment for studying and preparing for competitive exams within their own schools. This will reduce their dependence on coaching, enabling them to prepare effectively within their own schools.

Professor of Practice Model in Schools
According to the Ministry of Education's high-level committee, if children receive proper guidance and training within their schools, they will no longer need to rely on coaching. To achieve this, the Professor of Practice model has been proposed. This will train school teachers on competitive exam strategies, and experts from the industry or education sector will be invited as visiting faculty. This will help children understand exam patterns and strategies.

Advanced Studies Centers to be Opened in Schools
The CBSE-recommended CAS (Centers for Advanced Studies) will be established within schools. Students preparing for exams like IIT-JEE, NEET, CLAT, and CUET will be admitted here. These centers will offer advanced classes in subjects like Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Legal Studies, Accounts, and Economics.

According to the committee, there will be no discrimination between students who choose CAS and those who do not. Furthermore, students who wish to participate in CAS will undergo counseling first, followed by admission through a transparent process. It will be opened in schools after approval from the Ministry of Education.

Changes in Board Exam Pattern
According to the CBSE, 50% of the questions in board exams will be competency-based. This means that students will not be able to pass by mere rote learning, but will be required to understand and apply the concepts effectively.

Study Materials and Teaching Resources
Special study materials and assignments will be developed for CAS. These can also be made available digitally. For this, schools will either hire new teachers or appoint their own trained teachers. Importantly, CAS will be conducted entirely within the school and during school hours.

Ban on Coaching Culture
CBSE has also clarified that schools will not be allowed to tie up with any coaching centers. Strict measures have even been taken to curb the culture of dummy schools. This means that students will be able to prepare for competitive exams while staying in school.
